Stretching Grace
May 27th, 2006 by Beverly
Tonight was a brainstorming night at CIA practice.
We’re looking at the task of choosing music and creating a new routine to compliment the Creative Ministry Workshop theme in July – B.I.B.L.E (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) While Thinking Outside the Box. I’m glad they chose such an easy theme. (LOL) We spent most of the evening listening to various song possibilities. At this point, it looks like the Big House remix by Audio Adrenaline is the front runner. It’s got a bold sound and a strong message that we can work some very original moves into so that it fits the theme well.
We also found ourselves flexing our creativity at the news that we have been invited to provide entertainment between sets at a Christian hip-hop concert/dance on June 17th. This invite puts us a tad out of our comfort zone and it appears we will spend the next week updating some of our older, well-known routines so they better fit the venue. While our initial reaction was to turn down the invitation because we lack hip-hop material, we felt the opportunity was too great to deny. The concert arranger will be present for the performance and if he feels compelled by our ministry, it may lead to more concert performances and more exposure. So, we pur our faith in knowing that God will lead us where we need to be and equip us for the task. We also approach this performance holding firm to the understanding that we are NOT a hip-hop group… we are CIA.
Last, but not least, we will also be choreographing a routine to “I Can Only Imagine” for the team to perform at St. Mark’s UMC in honor of two members of our church who recently passed on to Grace. While my initial thoughts for this song were significantly different due to its moderate tempo and clear lyrics, as I listened to the song recently inspiration struck. I’m excited to see what God has planned for this routine.
Basically, it will be another busy month for CIA, but it means God is using us and we certainly can’t complain about that.
